Moon, Abe Discuss N. Korean Missile Launch

The heads of South Korea and Japan have held discussions over a missile launch by North Korea on Sunday morning.

Following a National Security Council meeting on the latest North Korean missile launch earlier in the day, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abbe told reporters that he held a phone conference with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

He added that Japanese National Security Advisor Shotaro Yachi held a phone conversation with an aide to United States Vice President Mike Pence.

The Japanese prime minister said that Japan, South Korea and the United States will closely work together to analyze related information and appropriately respond to future provocations by Pyongyang.

Abe added that Tokyo will also cooperate with China, Russia and the international community in order to address the North Korean issue and strongly call on the Pyongyang regime to abide by United Nations resolutions.
