"What is clear is that for us the DPRK is openly defying security council resolutions with its accelerated ballistic missile testing activities. These actions threaten regional and international security. We call on the DPRK to stop further testing and allow space to explore the resumption of meaningful dialogue."

Ahead of the UNSC gathering, U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told NBC's Today show that all options are on the table.

While calling the North's latest missile launch the same movie that keeps playing, she warned the regime not to give Washington a reason to fight.

The U.K. and France's UN ambassadors have made it clear that they will endorse additional sanction measures on North Korea.

It remains to be seen if China and Russia will this time join the move to contain the ever defiant regime.
