DMZ Alarm Due to N. Korean Leaflet Balloons

The Defense Ministry says that unidentified objects detected flying across the inter-Korean border on Tuesday are presumed to be North Korean balloons carrying propaganda leaflets.
In a news briefing on Wednesday, ministry's spokesman Moon Sang-gyun addressed the border watch alert that led to warning shots being fired by the South Korean military.
He said it is unlikely the unidentified flying objects were drones, noting they were in the shape of balloons and disappeared while moving in the westerly wind.
As about ten such unidentified objects approached the border for 30 minutes from 12 p.m. Tuesday and a few crossed the Military Demarcation Line(MDL), the South Korean military fired around 100 warning shots.
