S. Korea Welcomes G7 Statement on N. Korea

South Korea has welcomed the news that the G-7 leaders adopted a joint statement, and in doing so, is sending a strong message to North Korea.
A Foreign Ministry official said on Saturday that the Seoul government welcomes the statement by the leaders in their summit as it delivers strong messages demanding the North denuclearize and resolve its human rights and humanitarian problems.
The official said that following the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in April, the G-7 again took a unified front and called for the North’s denuclearization in the latest summit, which indicates the international community’s determination regarding the North Korean nuclear issue.
The official urged Pyongyang to listen to the calls of the international community, immediately halt all the acts that undermine peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the world and denuclearize.
