Senegal Halts Visa Issuance to N. Korean Workers

The Voice of America reported Tuesday that Senegal halted visa issuance to workers from North Korea last year.
The African country said that it stopped visa issuance to North Korean workers and banned their entries until results are produced from an investigation into North Korean company Mansudae Art Studio’s suspected financial assistance to the North Korean nuclear program.
The move was included in a report Senegal recently submitted to the UN Security Council’s sanctions committee on implementing Resolution 2321 to sanction the North.
The report said the visa issuance was halted on October 13th last year, about a month after North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test. The report noted the possibility that the money North Korean workers earned in Senegal could have been diverted into the North’s nuclear development.
