S. Korea: Inter-Korean Exchanges Possible under Right Conditions

South Korea says it will be flexible about considering private inter-Korean exchanges as long as conditions remain appropriate.
A Unification Ministry official in Seoul told reporters Tuesday that cross-border exchanges could become difficult if conditions get worse, a likely reference to North Korea's recent ballistic missile tests.
The official said Seoul remains unchanged in its position putting as much pressure as possible against Pyongyang in cooperation with the international community to resolve the issue of the North's missile and nuclear weapons programs.
However, the official added Seoul would seek an improvement in inter-Korean relations through cross-border exchanges to the extent they do not compromise international sanctions.
