Rescued N. Korean Sailors Return Home on Wednesday

South Korea has sent home all six North Korean sailors rescued by South Korean Coast Guard officials in the East Sea last weekend.
A Unification Ministry official told Yonhap News on Wednesday that a North Korean boat carrying the crewmembers was handed over to North Korea in the East Sea at 9:05 a.m. on Wednesday.
The official said that a North Korean ship was waiting right across the inter-Korean sea border, the Northern Limit Line, to take over the rescued ship and its crew at the designated time. On Tuesday, the South Korean government notified the North of its plan to return the sailors.
Last Saturday, South Korean authorities rescued six shipwrecked sailors aboard two North Korean ships in the East Sea.
One of the ships was scrapped as it was damaged beyond repair. All six rescued North Koreans wanted to return home.
