WFP Gave Food Aid to 760,000 N. Koreans in April

Voice of America(VOA) reported Friday that the U.N. World Food Program(WFP) provided 19-hundred tons of food aid to vulnerable North Koreans in April.
Silke Buhr, spokeswoman of WFP's Regional Bureau for Asia, told VOA the food aid went to 760-thousand-400 people in the North, including children and pregnant and nursing women.
Nineteen-hundred tons breaks down to 25-hundred grams of food per person for a month or about 83 grams a day.
Overall aid volume in April rose seven percent from March but per capita daily rations fell from 86 grams the previous month.
It marks a sharper drop compared to April last year when over a hundred grams of daily rations per person were given to 640-thousand North Koreans.
The spokeswoman said the WFP is in dire need of funding, which is why it was only able to provide around two-thirds of the standard ration in April.
