UNHRC Urges North Korea to Cooperate
The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein has urged North Korea to cooperate with the United Nations.
U.S. broadcaster Voice of America reported that the commissioner made the remarks at the 35th general meeting of the council in Geneva on Tuesday.
He was referring to North Korea's refusal to allow entry of special rapporteurs to inspect North Korea's human rights situation.
Last month North Korea approved the visit of the UN special rapporteur for human rights of disabled persons, a first by the communist country.
While Mr. Zeid welcomed this move he said it is not enough to relieve the urgent task at hand.
