S. Korea, US Navies to Conduct Joint Submarine Drill Near Guam

The Navy announced on Monday that it will take part in Exercise Silent Shark with the U.S. Navy near Guam for three weeks starting from Monday.
The Navy said the exercise, which integrates South Korean and U.S. antisubmarine warfare assets, will seek to boost military preparedness against North Korea’s submarine provocations.
The biennial drill will see the participation of a 12-hundred-ton Chang Bogo-class submarine and a P-3C maritime patrol aircraft from South Korea’s Navy. From the U.S. Navy, the 57-hundred-ton Los Angeles-class submarine, USS Oklahoma City, a destroyer and other surface ships will take part.
