National Assembly Speaker Chung Sye-kyun says that the nation needs former President Kim Dae-jung’s faith and determination, which led to the June 15th South-North Joint Declaration signed in 2000.
 
Chung made the remarks on Wednesday during a forum held on the eve of the 17th anniversary of the declaration.
 
The assembly speaker said that the parliament will do its best along with the government to lead the two Koreas to move toward reconciliation, cooperation and a peaceful reunification.
 
Vice Unification Minister Chun Hae-sung said that the ministry will pursue a new reunification policy based on the spirit of the June 15th Joint Declaration in 2000 and the October fourth Declaration in 2007.
 
Chun said that the ministry will actively deal with inter-Korean issues, while enhancing the South Korea-US alliance and cooperation with other countries.
