N. Korea Steps up Criticism on Moon Ahead of S. Korea-US Summit

North Korea is stepping up its criticism of South Korean President Moon Jae-in ahead of his summit with U.S. President Donald Trump next week.

The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, a North Korean organization dealing with South Korean affairs, issued criticism on Moon’s recent remarks on inter-Korean relations in the form of an interview with the North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA).

The committee’s spokesperson said that Moon’s position to seek both dialogue and sanctions against the North effectively means he would not engage in dialogue with Pyongyang.

The spokesman said that cross-border relations have worsened so much that it’s uncertain if the two Koreas could work things out even if they were to sit face to face with good will.

It is the first time that a North Korean organization publicly criticized President Moon since he took office.
