U.S. Deputy Attorney General Condemns N.Korea over Warmbier’s Death

A high-ranking U.S. Justice Department official has strongly denounced North Korea as a totalitarian government lacking the concept of the rule of law.

According to the Web site of the Justice Department, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein commented on Otto Warmbier’s death on Tuesday in Maryland.

Rosenstein said hard labor in North Korea means torture and that the Pyongyang regime will not hold anybody accountable for Warmbier’s death

He added there are no civil rights, no due process and no justice in the North.

Warmbier, a University of Virginia student, was arrested by North Korea in Pyongyang in January last year for stealing a propaganda poster from a hotel and was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor. He was freed and returned home in a coma on June 13th but died on Monday, six days after his release.
