S. Korea Hopes for N. Korea’s Acceptance of Inter-Korean Joint Team Proposal
The Unification Ministry is hoping to receive a positive response from North Korea regarding President Moon Jae-in’s proposal to form an inter-Korean unified team for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.
Ministry spokesman Lee Duk-haeng said in a news briefing on Monday that a lot of working-level preparations will have to be made if the North accepts the proposal.
The president made the proposal in a speech at an opening ceremony for the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships in Muju, North Jeolla Province, on Saturday, noting the past examples of inter-Korean joint teams for international sports events.
