New US Ambassador to China Prioritizes Stopping N. Korean Threat

Washington’s new top diplomatic envoy to Beijing says stopping the threat posed by North Korea will be his top priority.
U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad made the remark in a video message posted Monday on a popular Chinese video streaming platform.
Branstad said his main agenda will be “resolving the bilateral trade imbalance, stopping the North Korea threat, and expanding people-to-people ties.”
He also pointed out the United States and China face many of the same challenges, adding a strong Washington-Beijing relationship can contribute to solutions.
The former Iowa governor was confirmed on Saturday as U.S. President Donald Trump’s new ambassador to China.
