Japan Introduces 'Catch-all Control' on N. Korea's WMDs

Japan's Cabinet has passed a new regulation that allows the seizure of all items related to North Korea’s weapons of mass destruction(WMD) that come and go to North Korea via Japan.
The so-called “catch-all control” measure extends to both plane and ship cargo.
Japan’s Coast Guard and customs currently investigate and confiscate about 100 banned items such as nuclear fuel and weapons from shipments to and from North Korea, but the revised ordinance will allow Japan to seize all items if they appear to be related to the North’s WMDs.
The new ordinance is set to take effect in mid-July.
