A U.S. intelligence official says that the Kim Jong-un regime will continue its nuclear development to escape the fate of destruction that former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi faced after abandoning nuclear programs.
 
Scott Bray, Director of National Intelligence(DNI) Manager for East Asia, made the remarks on Monday at a forum held at the Heritage Foundation organized by the Institute for Corean-American Studies(ICAS).
 
Bray said that North Korea has witnessed the fate of countries that abandoned their nuclear programs which is why Kim Jong-un prefers not to negotiate over the issue.

The DNI official added that the U.S.-South Korea alliance will remain solid despite controversy over the deployment of the U.S. THAAD antimissile system.
