UN WMD Nonproliferation Conference Condemns N. Korea

A UN nonproliferation conference has adopted a statement condemning North Korea’s nuclear and missile development.
The UN Security Council held a meeting on the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday.
Representing 51 countries in attendance, Spain’s Ambassador to the UN Roman Oyarzun Marchesi issued a statement pledging all possible efforts to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The statement said that it condemns in the strongest terms the development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles by the North.
But North Korea protested the denunciation at the conference, vowing to continue to build a nuclear arsenal despite sanctions, pressure and military attacks from the international community.
