S. Korea to Send Taekwondo Demonstration Team to Pyongyang

The South Korean World Taekwondo Federation(WTF) will for the first time send a taekwondo demonstration team to Pyongyang in September.
Quoting a WTF official, Seoul-based Yonhap News reported on Friday that a WTF demonstration team will perform at the opening ceremony of the North Korea-led International Taekwondo Federation(ITF) World Championships.
The official said that the two taekwondo governing bodies agreed on the plan on the sidelines of the WTF World Taekwondo Championships currently being held in Muju, North Jeolla Province.
The 20th ITF World Championships are scheduled for September 17th to 21st in Pyongyang.
The WTF demonstration team will visit Pyongyang from September 16th to 20th. The team will perform at the opening ceremony on the 17th and again on the eve of the closing ceremony.
The agreement was reportedly made on Thursday in a meeting between ITF President Ri Yong-son, North Korea’s International Olympic Committee member Chang Ung, and WTF Chairman Choue Chung-won at the WTF headquarters in Seoul.
