Trump, Xi, Abe Reaffirm Commitment to Denuclearize N.Korea in Telephone Talks

Following his summit with President Moon Jae-in in Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump held telephone talks with both Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
According to the White House Trump told Xi over the phone Sunday that the threat from North Korea’s nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles is growing and the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
Trump spoke with Abe on Monday morning and confirmed close cooperation to increase pressure on Pyongyang over the North’s continued nuclear and missile provocations.
The telephone talks come ahead of expected meetings between the leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit which will be held in the northern German city of Hamburg on Friday and Saturday of this week.
