UNSC Fails to Adopt Statement Condemning N. Korea's ICBM Test

The UN Security Council reportedly failed to adopt a press statement condemning North Korea’s recent missile provocation due to opposition from Russia.
A UN official said on Thursday that when the Security Council met Wednesday to discuss the North's missile test, the U.S. proposed a draft statement strongly condemning the North’s test of an intercontinental ballistic missile(ICBM) and vowing to take “significant measures” against the provocation.
The draft was circulated among the 15 UNSC member nations, but Russia is said to have refused to adopt it, claiming that the missile launched by the North was not an ICBM but a mid-range ballistic missile.
China reportedly did not voice opposition to the draft.
