US Aiming to Limit Crude Supply to N. Korea in UNSC Resolution

The United States is said to be seeking to include high-intensity economic sanctions on North Korea in a UN Security Council(UNSC) resolution condemning the North's latest test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile(ICBM).
According to a diplomatic source on Friday, the U.S. government is said to be discussing with UNSC members ways to restrict the export of oil and petroleum products to the North and to prohibit the North from sending workers overseas.
The source said that the U.S. apparently decided not to waste any more time on seeking a UNSC media statement denouncing the North’s missile launch and instead decided to promptly produce high-intensity sanctions against Pyongyang.
The move comes as the UNSC failed to adopt a statement on the North’s missile provocation earlier on Tuesday due to Russia’s claim that the missile fired was an intermediate range missile and not an ICBM.
