The Unification Ministry is reviewing international organizations' requests for resuming Seoul's contributions to their humanitarian aid projects for North Korea.
 
Ministry spokesman Lee Duk-haeng on Monday told reporters about the prospect of rejoining UNICEF and the World Food Program’s aid projects for the North.
 
While citing President Moon Jae-in's remarks during the G20 summit about increasing humanitarian aid for North Korean children, the spokesman said Seoul recognizes the need for nutritional and medical aid to North Korean children and pregnant women.
 
South Korea’s aid through international organizations remains suspended since North Korea’s fourth nuclear test in January last year. Civilian-level assistance has also been suspended due to Pyongyang’s rejections.
