“We were able to derive the international community's support although the North Korean nuclear issue was not on the agenda for the G20 summit."
At a Cabinet meeting Tuesday, the South Korean president explained the result of his recent diplomatic engagements in the U.S. and Germany.
Moon then pressed Pyongyang to take the peace offers he extended during his speech in Berlin last week, calling his initiative the only viable path for the North to take.
While admitting that South Korea is not capable of resolving the North Korean nuclear problem or deriving a global consensus on the matter on its own, he called for guarding South Korea's position through diplomatic efforts.
He also pressed the opposition parties to swiftly pass the extra budget plan, underlining the need to boost the nation’s economic growth amid signs of global recovery.

"It is unfortunate that the opposition parties are linking personnel appointment issues with none other than the extra budget and government reorganization plans."
He argued that the new envisioned government structure must be approved in a bid to effectively cope with Washington's demand for revising the Korea-U.S. free trade pact.
Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting saw the attendance of 12 newly-appointed Cabinet members, including Science Minister You Young-min and Minister of Gender Equality and Family Chung Hyun-back.
