Military Authorities of S. Korea, US, Japan Discuss N. Korea's Missile Threats

The Ministry of National Defense said on Wednesday that Seoul, Washington and Tokyo have exchanged information of North Korea’s latest-launched ballistic missile with intercontinental range and discussed countermeasures.
According to the ministry, assistant minister-level officials of the three allies held a video conference in the day, including acting chief of the ministry’s policy planning office Chang Kyung-soo, along with David Helvey, U.S. acting assistant secretary of defense for Asian and Pacific security affairs, and Satoshi Maeda, director general for Japan's defense policy.
The three representatives denounced the North’s ballistic missile launch on July fourth, pointing out that it clearly violates the multiple UN Security Council resolutions. They said the North’s development of ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons poses a grave threat to global peace and stability.
They also agreed to strengthen trilateral milita cooperation to put maximum pressure on the North so that the regime would change its attitude and return to the sincere talks on denuclearization.
