US Envoy Discusses N. Korea with Top Leaders in Myanmar

Myanmarese newspapers reported on Tuesday that U.S. special representative for North Korea policy Joseph Yun met with the country’s top leaders on Monday to discuss North Korea among other things.
According to the state-funded daily, The Global New Light of Myanmar, during the meetings with Myanmar's State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and Myanmar’s commander-in-chief Min Aung Hlaing, Yun discussed the Korean Peninsula, stability and development of the Asia-Pacific region, and the military relationship between the U.S. and Myanmar.
The U.S. government suspects that the former military regimes that ruled the Southeast Asian country for over a half century had been among the major buyers of North Korean weapons, and that the North spent the proceeds from the sales of weapons in advancing its weapon development and benefiting its ruling class.
