N. Korea's Trade Increases Despite UN Sanctions

According to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA) in Seoul on Friday, North Korea’s trade volume reached six-point-55 billion U.S. dollars last year, up four-point-seven percent from a year ago.
The rise is considered exceptional as North Korea has been under diverse non-military sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council since March last year.
North Korea’s shipments marked an on-year increase of four-point-six percent to two-point-82 billion dollars last year, while its imports posted an on-year increase of four-point-eight percent to three-point-73 billion dollars.
North Korea’s trade with China totaled six-point-05 billion dollars last year, up six-point-one percent on-year. China took up 92-point-five percent of the North’s total trade.
