N. Korean Leader out of Public Eye for 8 Days

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has stayed out of the public eye for eight days now, raising speculation that the North may be preparing another military provocation.
The last time North Korean media showed Kim appearing in public was last Thursday when he was shown awarding people who had contributed to the test-firing of the Hwasong-14 intercontinental ballistic missile.
Prior to the Hwasong-14 missile launch, Kim had not made a public appearance for 13 days. He had also appeared after eight days of being absent from public view when the North fired its Hwasong-12 missile in May.
Amid Kim’s latest absence, CNN reported on Thursday that there are indicators that the North is preparing to conduct another intercontinental ballistic missile(ICBM) or intermediate range ballistic missile(IRBM) test in about two weeks.
