N. Korea Cancels Beer Festival

North Korea has reportedly canceled a beer festival set for late July in Pyongyang.

Koryo Tours, a China-based tourist agency, said on its English-language blog on Sunday that it was informed that the second Taedonggang Beer Festival has been canceled for unknown reason.

The agency said that it does not expect full information to be forthcoming but it is possibly due to the ongoing drought in the country that has caused a great deal of trouble.

It said that the festival for tourists could have provided "excellent mingling and interaction opportunities with hundreds of local people who attend every evening."

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) promoted the festival on July 13th, saying that the country will hold the beer festival from July 26th to late August.
