Ex-US Official Urges Flooding N. Korea with Information

A former U.S. official has suggested flooding North Korea with information as a way to deal with the Pyongyang regime.
Former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Tom Malinowski offered the possible solution in an article titled "How to Take Down Kim Jong-un" published in Politico magazine on Monday.
He said that when it comes to North Korea, the phrase “there are no good options” has become a mantra.
But he noted that knowledge of the outside world and abnormality of their own suffering is spreading among North Koreans.
He said it would be foolish to think change can be forced from the outside but there are, however, forces in play within North Korea that will "probably lead to the end of its regime and its reason to exist as a country."
Malinowski said that even if we can’t stop North Korea’s weapons programs, it makes sense to cause delays and disruptions, including through targeted sanctions against Chinese companies that work with the North Korean military.
He was also against encouraging an end to general trade between China and North Korea saying the movement of goods enables the movement of people and ideas.
As other options, he mentioned emphasizing human rights and reunification, not regime change, and also communicating to the North Korean elites.
