US Issues Statement on Sanctions against Russia, Iran, N. Korea

The U.S. Statement Department says that the United States will ensure its messages to Russia, Iran and North Korea are clearly understood with a package sanctions against the three nations.
In a statement released on Saturday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that Washington will work closely with its friends and allies to ensure its messages to Russia, Iran, and North Korea are clearly understood.
Tillerson said that the House and Senate overwhelmingly voted in favor of the sanctions and that they "represent the strong will of the American people to see Russia take steps to improve relations with the United States."
Tillerson added that he hoped potential future U.S.-Russia cooperation would make the sanctions unnecessary at some point.
The new sanctions include measures against North Korea, such as cutting oil supplies, and banning employment of North Korean forced laborers.
U.S. President Donald Trump will reportedly sign the legislation into law.
