Russia has condemned North Korea’s recent ballistic missile provocation, but urged restraint and repeated calls for dialogue to resolve the North Korean issues.
 
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday that Moscow has great concerns about the developments on the Korean Peninsula in relation to the North’s ballistic missile test last week in clear violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.
 
The ministry urged all relevant parties to exercise restraint and refrain from activities that could add tensions in the region, pointing out increased military activities in the U.S., South Korea and Japan, and Washington's continued efforts to deploy its global missile defense system in South Korea.
 
The ministry also said that it deems attempts undertaken by the U.S. and other countries to shift responsibility to Russia and China for developments on the Korean Peninsula as groundless. It claims Moscow and Beijing are often criticized for overlooking North Korea’s nuclear and missile development.
