Presidential Office, Ruling Party Discuss N. Korea, Security Environment

Possible responses to security challenges posed by North Korea were the agenda of a meeting Thursday between presidential National Security Office chief Chung Eui-yong and Democratic Party Floor Leader Woo Won-shik.
After the National Assembly meeting, Chung told reporters the North’s provocations could cause a fundamental change in the regional security environment, and that South Korea needs to respond effectively.
Chung reportedly assured Woo that the United States government does not see a war as likely, despite some of the heated rhetoric coming out of Washington.
