US Army Updates Patriot Interceptors against N. Korea Threats

In the face of growing North Korean missile threats, the U.S. military has updated their missile interceptors in South Korea.

The U.S. Army on Tuesday announced the move, saying the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade successfully completed an eight month program to modernize its Patriot missile defense system.

The U.S. military explained that one of the biggest benefits of the modernization overhaul was the replacement of many legacy systems and the update of old technology.

The U.S. troops are said to be operating 12 PAC-2 and PAC-3 variations of the Patriot batteries across South Korea.

The Patriot missile defense system was made famous during the first Gulf War against Saddam Hussein’s Scud missiles.
