The Unification Ministry has again called on North Korea to give a positive response to South Korea’s dialogue proposals.
 
The urge comes after President Moon Jae-in proposed resuming reunions of separated families and holding cross-border military talks once more in a speech marking Liberation Day earlier this week.
 
In a meeting with reporters on Thursday, a ministry official said that the government hopes the North will accept the South’s dialogue proposals so that the two Koreas will be able to frankly discuss matters of mutual concern.
 
The official added that Seoul has no hostility policy toward Pyongyang, as confirmed in the president’s Berlin Initiative and Liberation Day speech. The official stressed that South Korea pursues the firm principles of establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula and promoting reconciliation and cooperation between the two Koreas.
