VOA: Russia-N. Korea Trade up 73% in First Half

Trade between Russia and North Korea has reportedly increased 73 percent in the first half of this year from a year earlier.
According to the Voice of America(VOA) on Thursday, an analysis of data by the Russian Federal Customs Service found that trade volume between the two nations reached 61 million dollars between January and June, up 72-point-nine percent year-on-year.
Russian exports to North Korea came to 59 million dollars in the first half, up 97 percent. Exports of soft coals reached 36 million dollars, while brown coals like lignite came to eleven million dollars.
Shipments of oil products excluding crude oil reached two-point-four million dollars.
However, Russian imports from the North plunged 64 percent to one-point-eight million dollars over the cited period.
The VOA said that North Korea shipped two-point-eight million dollars worth of frozen seafood to Russia in the first half of last year, but there was no such export this year.
