Moon, Abe Agree to Peacefully Deal With N. Korea's Nuclear Threat

President Moon Jae-in and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe have reaffirmed their cooperation in dealing with North Korea's nuclear and missile threats during a phone conversation on Friday.

Presidential spokesperson Park Soo-hyun told reporters that the two leaders agreed on the need to continue to impose both sanctions and pressure on the North and to resolve the nuclear issue through peaceful means.

The two sides also agreed to work with the international community through close bilateral cooperation and trilateral Seoul-Washington-Tokyo cooperation for the complete dismantlement of the North's nuclear and missile programs.

In terms of bilateral ties, the leaders shared the need to build their relationship in a future-oriented way and to take care of historical issues, including that of South Korean victims forced into labor during Japan's colonial rule.
