Defense Minister to Visit US to Discuss N. Korea
Defense Minister Song Young-moo is set to leave for the United States next Tuesday for a five-day visit packed with high-level security meetings.
The Defense Ministry says he'll meet with U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis in Washington on Wednesday.
They're scheduled to assess North Korea’s advanced nuclear and missile capability and discuss a revision of bilateral agreement to permit Seoul to put heavier warheads on its missiles.
Meetings with U.S. presidential security adviser Herbert McMaster and U.S. Pacific Command chief Admiral Harry Harris are also on Song's itinerary.
