KCNA: N. Korean Leader Leads Drill on Taking over S. Korean Islands

North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency said Saturday that leader Kim Jong-un led a simulation drill on taking over South Korea’s northernmost islands of Baengnyeong and Yeonpyeong.
The report said the drill marked the 57th anniversary on Friday of former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's start of "Songun," or "military-first revolutionary leadership.”
It said the goal of the drill was to display the North Korean special operations forces’ capacity to smoothly carry out any kind of mission in the event of a contingency.
The report claimed the drill confirmed the North’s ability to instantly sweep into blazing fire enemy targets, including the headquarters of South Korea’s Sixth Marine Brigade on the islands of Baengnyeong and Yeonpyeong.
