N. Korea Urges UNSC to Discuss S. Korea-US Joint Drills

North Korea has sent a letter to the UN Security Council(UNSC) to request an emergency discussion on the ongoing South Korea-U.S. military exercise.
The North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported on Monday that its permanent representative at the UN sent the letter on Friday to request the UNSC to discuss the issue as an emergency agenda.
The KCNA strongly criticized the Ulchi Freedom Guardian(UFG) joint drills as hysterical conduct that adds fuel to the fire. It said that the joint drills pose a grave threat to security and peace on the Korean Peninsula and the world.
In March, North Korea sent a similar letter to the UNSC to demand a discussion on the Foal Eagle joint exercises between Seoul and Washington.
