S. Korea Protests against N. Korea Missile Launch

South Korea has issued a statement strongly protesting North Korea’s ballistic missile launch.

In a statement, the government said North Korea fired a ballistic missile from Sunan, North Pyongan Province on Tuesday morning. It said it strongly protests the North’s provocation, noting that it comes on the heels of grave messages by the international community which adopted a new round of UN Security Council sanctions earlier this month.

The statement added that the North Korean regime should recognize that denuclearization is the only path to guarantee its security and economic development. It then called on the North to engage in dialogue instead of reckless provocations.

The statement said that if the North continues to conduct nuclear and missile provocations, Seoul will respond strongly based on its firm alliance with the United States. It said the government is fully prepared to respond to the North’s threats and that it will maintain South Korea’s security and protect its people without waver.
