'US Promises to Consult S. Korea before Military Actions against N. Korea'
A senior South Korean official says the U.S. has promised close advance consultation with South Korea should it use military options against North Korea.
The official made the remark on Wednesday to reporters at the South Korean Embassy in Washington, saying that Seoul’s views will be reflected in a significant way regarding the U.S. military actions.
The official said that the U.S. does not appear to have intentions to engage in actions without its ally knowing.
The official added that the expressions “preventive strike” or “preemptive strike” were never mentioned in recent discussions about North Korea between Seoul and Washington.
