Seoul has welcomed the UN Security Council’s(UNSC) denouncement of North Korea’s firing of a ballistic missile over Japan.
 
An official of the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday relayed the South Korean government’s stance on the swift, unanimous adoption of the UNSC presidential statement against Pyongyang, saying that with the statement the international community is reiterating its resolution not to tolerate the North’s nuclear and missile programs.
 
The official said the North should take the international community’s concerted warning seriously and take the path toward dialogue on denuclearization instead of waging reckless provocations.
 
The official added South Korea will faithfully implement the UNSC resolutions on the North and continue its efforts for complete denuclearization of the North and permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
