China Vows Necessary Steps if THAAD is Additionally Deployed

China’s Defense Ministry said Friday that the Chinese military will take necessary steps if additional launchers of the THAAD antimissile system are deployed in South Korea.
Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Ren Guoqiang told reporters on Thursday that China has been consistent and clear on its stance regarding South Korea’s additional THAAD deployment, stressing that Beijing is strongly opposed to the antimissile system’s installment.
The spokesman’s remarks are apparently directed at Japan's effort to deploy the Aegis Ashore system and South Korea's move to speed up the deployment of remaining THAAD launchers in the wake of the North’s launch of a ballistic missile that flew over Japan earlier this week.
Ren said that China adheres to denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and maintains the principle of resolving problems via dialogue and negotiations. He added that China will not tolerate troubles on its doorstep or a war breaking out on the peninsula.
