N. Korea Claims Developing H-Bomb

Anchor: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has said Pyongyang is now capable of domestically producing hydrogen bombs. He also indicated a sixth nuclear test would be conducted soon during a visit to the Nuclear Weapons Institute on Sunday.
Kim In-kyung has the details.
Report: Shortly before the explosion deemed to be North Korea’s sixth nuclear test on Sunday, leader Kim Jong-un reportedly inspected the technical specifications of a newly-developed H-bomb during a visit to the Nuclear Weapons Institute.
The North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) on Sunday said North Korea also disclosed a model of a silver-colored nuclear warhead and a diagram with the words Hwasong-14 nuclear warhead H-bomb written on it.
The KCNA reported that Kim said Pyongyang is now capable of domestically producing H-bombs as well as manufacturing nuclear weapons at its will.
The North claimed that it can adjust the explosive power of the H-bomb from "tens kiloton to hundreds kiloton” and detonate at high altitudes for a super-powerful electromagnetic pulse(EMP) attack.
An EMP is a powerful electromagnetic wave capable of destructing electronic systems in a region ranging from a radius of tens to hundreds of kilometers depending on the altitude of the explosion.
Kim said the Nuclear Weapons Institute should fully charge ahead to achieve nuclear power and also indicated that the North would conduct a sixth nuclear test soon.
Seoul’s Vice Defense Minister Suh Choo-suk said in a parliamentary briefing on Thursday that the North is ready at all times to conduct a nuclear test. He said that if the North conducts a sixth nuclear test, it is likely to be of an H-bomb or a boosted fission weapon.
