N. Korean Nuke Test Generates 50 Kiloton Explosive Yield

The South Korean Defense Ministry says that North Korea's sixth nuclear test carried an explosive yield of 50 kilotons.
Key security officials on Monday revealed its assessment at the National Assembly's defense committee.
The ministry believes North Korea on Sunday made the detonation amounting to 50-thousand tons of TNT, using a mixture of nuclear fusion and fission materials.
The ministry also said that the North could proceed even further and launch intercontinental ballistic missiles(ICBM) in a bid to show that it possesses nuclear warhead delivery capabilities.
While various signs suggest that the North Korean military is preparing for an ICBM launch, the ministry told lawmakers that it is discussing the deployment of U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, strategic bombers and other assets on the Korean Peninsula.
