Moon, Putin Agree N. Korean Nuke Issue Needs Swift Resolution

President Moon Jae-in and Russian President Vladimir Putin have called for a swift resolution of the North Korea nuclear issue.
In a joint news conference following their summit in Vladivostok on Wednesday, Moon said he and Putin strongly condemn the North for conducting its sixth nuclear test on Sunday, despite repeated warnings from the international community.
He said they shared the view that the North’s nuclear issue should be resolved quickly to realize the “infinite potentials” of the Korean Peninsula and the Far East region.
The South Korean president said they also reached consensus that pursuing nuclear and missile programs is the wrong path for Pyongyang to take and that easing tensions on the peninsula is an urgent matter.
Additionally, Moon explained that he and Putin agreed to work together to lay a strong foundation for trilateral cooperation among the two Koreas and Russia on infrastructure projects linking the Korean Peninsula and the Far East.
