China Says 3 Northeastern Provinces Saw Radiation Levels Rise

After North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear test on Sunday, the radiation levels of three northeastern Chinese provinces located near the test site were found to have risen.
According to China’s National Nuclear Safety Administration on Thursday, the radiation level of Badaojiang district in Baishan City in China’s Jilin Province stood at 121-point-two nanogray(nGy) on average per hour between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesday but then surged to 122-point-eight nGy between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday.
The Chinese nuclear safety agency continuously measured the radiation level of 38 spots in the northeastern provinces of Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang as well as Shandong Province.
The agency said that it is tracking radiation levels using automatic measuring devices, patrol vehicles and aerial observation equipment near the China-North Korea border.
