Moon: S. Korea-Russia Cooperation Will Draw N. Korea's Change

President Moon Jae-in has stressed the necessity of strengthening cooperation between South Korea and Russia, saying it will not only help their joint prosperity but also lead North Korea to change its course.

In a meeting with ethnic Koreans in Vladivostok on Thursday, Moon also said the Far East, bordering with the North, is a land of opportunity in that it can help the two Koreas overcome the pain of division and build a future together.

Moon pointed out that under the current triangular cooperative framework to develop the Far Eastern region, lackluster inter-Korean cooperation has often caused a delay in Seoul-Moscow cooperation.

He said Seoul will now shift its priority in the Far East initiative to cooperation with Russia.

He noted the Far East will be a new Blue Ocean not only for South Korea and Russia but also for all Eurasian countries as the Far East project will help integrate and grow the economic bloc.
