S. Korea Convenes NSC Meeting to Assess N. Korea's Nuke Test

The National Security Council’s standing committee is evaluating North Korea’s recent nuclear test and Seoul’s possible responses.

According to the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae, National Security Office chief Chung Eui-yong convened a NSC standing committee meeting and discussed the government’s readiness for possible additional provocations by the North on or around Saturday, when it celebrates its founding day.

On hand at the meeting were Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon, Defense Minister Song Young-moo, National Intelligence Service(NIS) Director Suh Hoon and Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok.
